Amazingly enough, the previous thread was getting to be way too big, so here is a continuation.

I wanted to be the Milky Bar Kid!
(Sung, while kid overcomes some kind of challange/ bully)
"Oh the Milky Bar kid is strong and tough,
And only the best is good enough.
The creamiest milk, the whitest bar,
The goodness that's in Milky Bar"

Loved the ad.- shame I never liked white chocolate!

Wisk detergent ran a commercial featuring an exasperated woman scrubbing her husband's collars while off camera voices taunted "ring around the collar." It so offended my thirteen-year-old self - SHE didn't get those collars dirty - that I drastically cut down on my TV time. Thirty-five years on I still don't watch much TV - and I've never bought Wisk detergent.

On the other hand, hearing Richie Havens sing "All abooooaaard Amtrak, all abooaaaaard" embodied all the romance of train travel.

Didn't anyboy mention the little dog chasing the chuck wagon? I don't think it had a jingle though...

Kim C: Was that the one where the dog food in the can gets branded at the end of the commercial?

More memories:
(The old commercial) "The kids.... the dog... the phone... the door! CALGON, TAKE ME AWAY!"
(There's a newer commercial for the workplace-woman that includes "The boss...")

There's one where a little dog is running down a street, through a neighborhood, and finally into his home kitchen, past various distractions which he blithely ignores, mumbling to himself "kibbles an' bits, kibbles an' bits, kibbles an' bits". It's quite cute, in a crass commercial sort of way. "Cibum" is Latin for food, and my students have used that commercial to remember that. (Yes, I have taught Latin.) It's always a letdown when the work of great musicians is turned to commercial use. I love Gershwin, and I'll never really forgive United (I think it was United) for appropriating Rhapsody in Blue.

Kim, a version of "Rawhide" was playing in the background of that dog food commercial

British Rail adverts introduced me to Leon Redbone, for which many thanks, but I still hate their trains, under whatever brand: dirty, expensive, overcrowded and delayed. So I save money and buy Leon's CDs instead.
