Here you go, Louie, thanks so much for providing these lyrics. It's a lovely old song. I am sorry it took me so long to get them posted. Hope you didn't give up on me entirely. Thanks a bunch...kat

NEW MOON

There's a new moon over my shoulder
And an old love still in my heart
I remember now that I'm older
What you told me the day we had to part
You promised with the new moon
You'd be coming back to me
But many moons have passed since then
And I'm still waiting patiently
There's a new moon over my shoulder
And an old love still in my heart 2nd verse

There's a new moon over my shoulder
And an old love still in my heart
Now I'm wishing that I'd been bolder
Then perhaps we would not be so far apart
You promised you would write me
But so far there's not a line
But still I wait and make believe
That someday you'll be mine
There's a new moon over my shoulder
And an old love still in my heart 3rd verse

There's a new moon over my shoulder
And an old love still in my heart
Every night now seems a little bit colder
And so lonely since we've been apart
And so I keep on praying
For your safe return someday
And that we'll be the same sweethearts
As when you went away
There's a new moon over my shoulder
And an old love still in my heart

That was a pretty popular Country song in 1944-46. I have a great rendition by Tex Ritter on CD. Gene Autry and several others recorded it too.
