I am seeking to trace every recording of "She Moved through the Fair" and would greatly welcome help from Mudcatters.

Cheers.

PS. As you can see I don't mind split infinitives.

If you're looking for every recording, you'll have to use something like a Google search on the net. Good luck, you'll probably come up with quite a lot.

In the meantime, this thread may be of some help.

Cheers!
Ian

Guest Inishowen, I am trying to figure out the relevance of your partiality to split infinitives, but am having no success. You didn't use any split infinitives in your post ..............

Alan Stivell -- Chemins de terre
With a great French accent.

William Pint and Felicia Dale -- Hartwell Horn
An instrumental version, with hurdy-gurdy.

Telynor (my band) -- Celtic and Traditional Music
Now out of print. We gender-switched the words for a female vocalist.

I understand there is a radio station in the states that only plays variations of "she moved through the fair"

first time I heard it was on an "All About Eve" Album and Boyzone have a version on one of their CD'S

Feargal Sharkey (ex punk band Stiff Little Fingers, who sang "My Perfect Cousin") sang a very definitive version on an album called "Celtic Moods" a couple of years ago.
The most haunting I've ever heard.

Calach,
You're in grave danger of incurring AliUK's wrath as English teacher (teacher of English?). What is a "very definitive version" as opposed to a "definitive version"?
Curious

Fergal Sharkey was with the Undertones who were good, then he went solo, was crap and thankfully disappeared.

Before Napster croaked, I got a couple dozen versions of this tune (in order to work out an arrangement of my own). My favorites are Sinead O'Connors w/ the Chieftains, and a beautiful accapella version from the Anne Briggs collection. By the way, I highly recommend the Briggs collection ... 22 tunes, only 4 with accompaniment.
