29 Aug 01 - 09:55 AM (#537422) Subject: seeking UK tips From: balladeer Cheers to all you UK Mudcatters, some of whom I've had the pleasure of meeting recently. In 1964 and 5, under the name Joanne Hindley-Smith (see Bunjie's archive),I sang professionally in a lot of folk clubs that were upstairs over pubs in big cities, medium-sized towns, and little villages all over England. Are there similar rooms in operation now? And in those days I was invited to play concerts at institutions of higher learning, such as Sheffield Teacher Training College. Do those opportunities exist today? I'm wondering if you who know who are hiring folk singers in Britain would be so kind as to tell me. Ta. Joanne |
