Can anyone help with these chords? I have the lyrics from the Digitrad but the chords elude me. Thanks in advance.

A friend recently "turned me on to" this song, and a rollicking little ditty it is.
At first I thought that it was a "traditional" piece, but since have seen evidence of more recent composition. Is "Bedlam", in fact, a modern arrangement of a traditional song, or is it an entirely new work that just sounds "trad"?
That would put it somewhat in the league, I suppose, of "Ashokan Farewell" by Jay Ungar, which nearly everyone who watched the Ken Burns Civil War series on PBS now thinks was around in the 1860's.
Knowing the true vintage of "Bedlam" would certainly impact when, how, and where I might perform it (most likely on the tinwhistle) - not to mention the "public domain" issue.

See the DT file.  BEDLAM BOYS

There is also useful information on this and related songs in these previous discussions:

Tom O'Bedlam's Song
Tom of Bedlam

Many people appear to have learnt the abridged text recorded by Steeleye Span back in 1971; this was set, not to the old tune (which is given in the DT, but to (so far as I know) a new one by Nic Jones and Dave Moran.

Has anyone else (UK) seen/heard Flagcrackers dance to this? Effective or what!

Oh wow, I never knew that the tune by Steeleye Span was not the original one....you learn something new every day, eh?

Jones and Moran have been reported as writing the tune in the back of a Mini between gigs in the late 60'sI think, it seems they composed it on a mandiolin.
