Notes from the CD "Warning: Women at Work," by Rebel Voices:
This is a great example of the "folk process" - Harry Belafonte was the hrst person we heard singing this melody; many a parodist has borrowed it since. The Capitol Steps of NPR/ Wash D.C. fame came up with the day care theme, Meryle Korn wrote her version and we tweaked it here and there as well.

I'm glad somebody else knows about Rebel Voices...their music just keeps getting better, and is definitely worth checking out. (And it is Meryle Korn...several inadvertent variant spellings above.)
