Lyr Req: She Wore a Claret Ribbon

Please help a friend & fellow folk singer out - he's a Villa supporter.

Apparently Villa supporters sing 'She wore a claret ribbon', & it sounds like a traditional song. I've looked at Villa sites & searched on here - without success.

Thank you

Hilary

Found this bit on this site:

She wore, she wore, she wore a claret ribbon.
She wore it for the Villa, in the merry month of May,
and when I asked, her why she wore that ribbon.
She said it's for the Villa, coz we're going to WEMBLEY!!
WEMBLEY!! WEMBLEY!!
and we're the famous Aston Villa and we're going to WEMBLEY!!
WEMBLEY!! WEMBLEY!!

It's a version of She wore a yellow ribbon which as the entry in the DT says is a version of All Around my Hat

Hope that helps

The the words and tune are adapted from the theme music from a 50's or 60's Western - "She wore a yellow ribbon"
