Lyr Req: From a Dog's Stance Parody (Mankita)

Subject: Need lyrics
From: Paul Honeycutt

I'm looking for the lyrics to the parody of Julie Gold's "From a Distance" called "From a Dog's Stance". If you can help please contact me at: honeycut@wapa.gov. Thanks! I'm also looking for the music to a Grey Larson tune called "Sweeney's Buttermilk" that was done by the group Touchstone on their album "The New Land".

Can anyone tell me the words to the parody of the song; From a Disatance? I seem to remember it was From a Dogstance, but I never got all the lyrics. Your help is appreciated. Thanks, Gloucesterman

No joy. I found the original Bette Midler lyrics, but no parody. Sorry.

I'm pretty sure I remember hearing the duo "Magpie" sing that song a few years ago. I think they may have written it but I'm not certain about that at all. I don't have the lyrics, but maybe that's a lead....

FROM A DOG'S STANCE
(Jay Mankita)

From a dog's stance, the world's a bowl of food
And no dog is in need.
From a dog's stance, no dog's ever rude
Just one hungry mouth to feed.
From a dog's stance, there is harmony
And it rests upon your plate.
It's the drool of hope. It’s the look of guilt.
There's a stance in every dog.

From a dog's stance, we all have enough
So why not give dogs more?
From a dog's stance, dogs can't comprehend
What all these cats are for.
From a dog's stance, we are waitresses
Marching to the kitchen now.
Bringing bowls of food... make that "people food.”
That's the stance of every dog.

CHORUS:
Dogs are watching us - dogs are watching us,
Dogs are watching us - from a dog's stance

Found in Sing Out 37-1 Lyrics by Jay Mankita

Could somebody explain how to keep poetic lines being wrapped into paragraphs? Capital letters are used at the beginning of each line in case you need to unravel it.

Oh, that's so funny!!! I tried to tell you, but of course, my HTML instructions disappeared!

Better you should go to "Mudcat FAQ - Newcomer's Guide" Permathread and look for:
Technical Advice
Basic Mudcat HTML.

(If I can do linebreaks, anyone can!)

Mankita expanded the song a bit on his album titled Dogs Are Watching Us: The Lighter Side of Jay Mankita

Dogs are watching us - from a dog's stance

From a dog's stance, the world's a bowl of food,
And no dog is in need.
There are no cats, no postmen, baths, or fleas,
Just one hungry mouth to feed.
From a dog's stance, there is harmony
And it rests upon your plate.
It's the drool of hope. It's the look of guilt.
That's the stance of every dog.

I believe I read these lyrics in an old Sing Out! Magazine. Probably Jay sent them in.
