I feel I must congratulate Noreen and the rest of the Shellback Chorus for a cracking night at the Sea Cadets hall on the Saturday. Pint and Dale and the Fleetwood Folk Club production of 'It all comes out of the Cod End' made it a truly memorable night. Surely there must be a case for making a maritime concert a regular event at this venue...the setting and acoustics are perfect. |

09 Sep 01 - 05:26 PM (#545814) Subject: RE: Fylde Festival-Sea Cadets From: Noreen Cheers, Harry, it was good to see you there too. Shellbacks agreed that it was a very good venue and we sounded at our best there. It's such fun singing with all those wonderful voices around you! A grand night indeed. There are Shellbacks from all over the country, but most are based in the north- I keep meeting up with Shellbacks in other guises as folk clubs and festivals. Derek is interested in recruiting people who are local to festivals, or who would be attending anyway- so if you see Shellbacks at a festival and are interested in joining, come up and introduce yourself after a performance. Next festival for the Shellbacks, and only remaining one this year, is Bedworth. Noreen |

I will post a thread but in the meantime all the info can be found on the Open Door Folk Club website which can be accessed pretty easily via Google. Briefly it's a two day mini-festival featuring Pete Coe, Brian Peters, Jez Lowe, Jon Brindley, Joan Blackburn and Joe Stead at the Bulls Head, Oldham Road, Failsworth. By the way...I've finally joined Mudcat! |
