I can't sleep

Peg here; Ground Zero. Thank you, Logan airport.

I once got a four inch (sharp, real) Bowie knife thru security at Logan. I was heading to a pagan gathering in Florida and like to have this knife when I go camping; I just was not thinking about the airport security thing. It was just long enough they wanted to take it away from me. But the two security guards got into a pissing contest and finally settled for wrapping it in duct tape and letting me put it in my backpack.

Peter Jennings is still going; he has been my rock since 9 o'clock this mo

sorry..."this morning."

I called my Mom twice today. She asked me who does things like this? All I could say was "fucking psychos, Mom."

I fear that, having lost so much humanity without us today, we are in danger of losing sight of the humanity within us. How can people react to this with more violence? How?

As I prepared to go to my coven's home base tonight, where we did an intense ritual for strength and light (as many other covens the world over did workings today and tonight, many of us scheduling this during George Bush's scheduled address), I found myself unable to decide if I should leave my cats extra food or not. Would I want to come home and be alone, or wish to stay with friends? Would something happen in the few short hours I was away so that I could not return home and feed my kitties? Should I leave the lid openon the toilet so they could get water in case I was shot down or blown up in the streets?

I have many friends who live and work in NYC; and in DC. I fear some of them may have been there. I hope not.

Everything has changed. Everything. Dreams and hopes. Fears and phobias. The future. Today.

Peg, there are folks in the UK here with no connection at all to anyone in the WTC, other than we are (allegedly) members of the same human race, and we feel for you. We're pretty powerless to do anything, we can't even send you stuff because there are no planes to take it, all we can do is pray to whichever deity and hope you make it.

Leave extra food. Leave extra water in dishes. Most likely everything will be ok but you will feel better. Considering the crisis you can probably find a neighbour who would look in on your cats.

My guess... This may hurt for a long time. Then these new fears will be just like your old fears but you will have new hopes and new dream.

Another excellent post, flattop. Thank you for your wonderful voice tonight.

In general we can do our subconsciouses(sp) a favour and turn off the tvs. The images are too much sometimes for fragile and sensitive beings like musicians. We can easily imagine the worse, even without the images.

Light a candle. Light some incense. Say a prayer, sing a song, listen to some music, talk to friends, give yourelves and your psyches a break from the media. It will all be there tomorrow.

love,

kat

I've been awake since 2 am. We have been dragged into the 21st century and it is scary. The fact is, both the Palistinians and the Israelis live with this sort of terror every day. It has been said that mankind can adjust to any condition, and, that will be his downfall.

Dear Liz and others, stores are open, water is running and we are getting on, getting on. I don't think will be like an earth quake were we need food supplies, as the bridges and roads are all intact. We may need blood at some point though there are so many lining up here, the system can't accompdate them all. So, what is needed, mostly, are prayers for peace. Cheers, from Downtown New Yorks City, Larry

What is needed is actual peace. I also wonder at "folks" (note the media are not quoting Bush on that little tidbit) who would retaliate, answering bloodshed with bloodshed and still managing to think that they might be accomplishing something. Rise Above It, please. Someone posted that if we don't retaliate, these deaths will have been in vain. I say that if we DO, we will be the ones rendering those deaths vain. At least let them have died for world PEACE, not as the first casualties of WWIII.

Well I finally got some sleep at some point. Thanks for all the comiserating.

Doug; did you have something to say? Or just being a smart ass? Gee, how very useful.

I got some sleep but I am weary. Strange, but when this all started yesterday I expected the usual NY bashing. You know "Only 10,000. Couldn't they the manage the Empire State Building, a few tunnels, and Gracie Mansion too." Terrible feelings of isolation.

Thank you all for all the support. Today, I have to do something to feel useful. Blood donation, if I can find my card and baking cookies for the fire department.

I keep trying to understand the anger and hatred that could motivate someone to do this. Hundreds of people are wandering around Manhattan with pictures of loved ones who are missing, begging for help finding them. When I look from our roof at lower Manahattan, I see Hiroshima. And I try to imagine the hatred and anger that could have motivated that.

It is absurd. I know that if given the chance, I could sit down with women from any country in the world, with or without an interpreter, and within minutes being sharing photos of babies, children, homes. We want the same for ourselves and our children. Why can't we get this right?

I didn't sleep very well...was so drained when I went to bed at 1230 Pacific time....I crashed instantly...but I kept waking up...after dreams of airplanes crashing into buildings and frightened people running from falling skyscrapers.....

Peg: I was not being a smart ass. I guess I was being obtuse. I didn't have the foggiest what the hell you were talking about. I'm not into covens so that is is compeletly foreign to me. "To Each His Own," I suppose.

They are no longer requiring donor cards, as long as you fill out a questionaire. I don't remember the website, if anyone does, please post it.

There are also sites set up here in Canada for blood donations, please contact your local Red Cross for details. The USA is our neighbour and closest friend, lets help all we can. Don't forget to pray for those brave firemen and police who are still missing. They are the finest of the finest. From now on whenever I see a fireman and/or policeman I will feel like saluting.
