BS: Prayer request

I don't know if these requests are okay these days. I haven't been as active on the MudCat lately as I would like to be. If this is an inappropriate request, I apologize in advance. Anybody who is of a mind to respond can feel free to do so via personal messages rather than on the board.

A year ago, my brother and I got the news that our Mom had been diagnosed with lung cancer. You mudcatters responded compassionately...and effectively. My Mom tolerated the chemo and radiation very well, and this past July she was declared in remission. There was no indication that the cancer had spread or metastasized. Her lymph nodes and brain were clear. We proceeded with cautious optimism, knowing how often these types of things recur, but wanting to make the most of whatever respite we had been given.

Last Friday we learned that she now has a lesion in her brain. I went down to see her Tuesday night. W ehad a consult with one of her physicians Wed. morning and she had an MRI done Thursday morning. The good news is that the bad news is no worse that we thought. There is only one lesion. It's on the left side, near what is called the motor strip. The doctor has said that it is treatable, but that without treatment she would have maybe 4 months. Now we have to make some determinations about how top best proceed. Any treatment will almost certainly have some impact on her cognitive function. We want to minimize that while maximizing the effectivness of the treatments.

At any rate, in the midst of this time of incredible sadness, my little family has it's own struggle to undergo now, and I would really appreciate any prayers, good wishes, prsitive vibes you could send in our direction. It worked so well last time.

Thank you,

BeauDangles

Beau, I don't think I have ever read a post from you, but this is not surprising, as I am only a recent poster myself, and you have obviously had a lot to handle.

I don't personally think it is inappropriate to reach out to friends, or even strangers you share something in common with when you are in pain or worried.

Add my thoughts and prayers to the mix. I wish there was a more happy reason to be reading you for the first time.

Not a great prayer myself but may the powers that be give you the strength you need to see you through, the comfort you need when the strength isn't enough and the knowledge that there are good friends to talk to whenever you want them.

Mrrzy, Frank, Kat, CS, Johnne, Mary, Melani, Dave, Jeff, Ian.....you all have my thanks. I know this is going to be a challenging time. The past year certainly was, but it was brought about a lot of healing in my family. I hope the same is tru of this situation.

And Dave, you may not be much of a pray-er, but you did good! P.S. I read that some of your kinfolk were "liberated" in France (Garden Gnomes).

Celtic Soul, special thanks to you, being so new to this community. And, hey, whaddya know? Another virginian. There are a growing number of us!

All good thoughts to your mother and to you and the rest of her loved ones for strength and wisdom as you make your treatment decision, and for comfort and support in the days ahead.

Beau, my prayers as well.

There is a prayer chain of mostly-Mudcatters as well, in e-mail. Please PM me if you would like this circulated to them--- many of the participants are not "here" daily to see a thread of this sort.

Thank you Mary and Sharon.

I'm gonna go home and light a candle for my Mom, and for our sounded nation. May the Light guide us thru the darkness ahead.
