Good luck Larry. I just finished a 14 week (every Monday) gig with my band, and there are four great musicians now at loose ends here in Toronto. Not a reactionary in the bunch!

Bye the way, why don't you contact David Paton (Sandy's son) He knows EVERYONE in the Celtic scene.....and lives near new York.

Rick

Thanks to all, as to immagrating, my old friend Arther Kenoy, the lawyer for the Rosenburgs, (exicuted for espionage in the 50's) is fond of saying, stay at the center of the controversies of your time. I think that is New York at the moment. Rick, good idea, can you email me contact info?

I posted this as my reaction to bush's speach, but it should really go here, as it is the minimum expectation for bandmembers...
Last night the president made a speach which hinted at limitations of freedom and described the US entering a world war. We are entering a time which may make the McCarthy era seem like a time of liberty. Some of us believe we will need to respond to this with art which preserves the ideals of liberty. Some will respond by keeping their heads down. You know the songs I write, they are thoughtful responces to our times. I have been writing to band members for days now, proposing that, for example we use art to help wounded firemen who have done so much for us, and I have gotten no responce. Pissing into the wind. Now may be a good time to ask if you wish to keep your heads down on stand on the front line of liberty. I am asking do you wish to use art to help heal a world going to tear itself appart with war, a world where the basic freedom that Americans have lived for and died for for centuries is being offered up without question?
All the best
Larry

would gladly share the same boat as IanB. Have 6-string, 12-string, Bodhrans, Musical Frogs and know the chords for "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind"

Go Larry!

Larry, there was another thread a few days ago, I think it was 'Heart of a Musician', on which I suggested that the last thing society needs at the moment is for the musicians to be quiet. Go to it, man!

Meanwhile, the skiffler, the minstrel and I will be arranging our tickets....

Sure wish I was in NYC just now. I would jump in in a heartbeat, my brother. You wouldn't have to pay me $100 per night, but you would have to help me to master these feckin' Uilleann Pipes!!!!!!!!.........LOL. Wishin' you well, my friend. I sure wish you would come to Baltimore area for the FSGW Gathering next month.

All the best,

Mick

Baltimore is not to far... let me know the details. Looks like we are about to go back to the comune days, with all my brother mudcats running to join the band! Wouldn't that be a trip, MUSICAL FROGS!!!???? And what are we going to do with the THREE Moomen clones in the band!? Great to hear from you all. I just did a nine track version of my song for the firemen, all me, real hard to perfom live that way though... any news on that cult that is into clones?
Cheers all,
you keep it hopeful when things look black... by the way the responce from a band members was that my emails are hostile... fucksake! Emagine that hostility in the face of silence and apathy at the start of WWIII... Well again, cheers Larry

Larry, I am talking about the FSGW Getaway weekend which occurs just north of Baltimore on the weekend of October 19 - 21. For all the details go HERE. It looks like Rick Fielding, probably Dan and Bonnie, Micca, Jed Marum, and loads of other Mudcats are coming in for it. In addition, a number of us are sticking around for the Tuesday night radio show. This should be one humdinger of a Getaway. And the cabin is co-ed with music all night. One caution, don't fall asleep from driving all night.............the abuse is fierce................hahahahaha. If you are coming in Friday night, bring a dish to pass.

Come on, buddy. I would love to sing with you.

Mick

I'm actually almost close enough(New Jersey), but my boys are still having nightmares when dad isn't back from the city by bedtime.( And my guitar skills lack a performance level past campfires) We've never used the pager before but bedtime calls are now necessity. One thought that's been in my mind a day or two is could 'Catters get copies of Rise Up Singing and/or perhaps Songs and Creations for to be left at the firehouses. We've all turnt to song... the world has turnt to song but lyrics often come hard... I've been working with folks getting construction grade gloves to schools and churchs to put messages and childrens pictures on the gloves and then bringing them to the firehouses. We've done nearly a thousand and the response has been heart wrenching.

Perhaps if the songbooks let folks know how to acess paltalk we could always offer a voice in the night...

Blessings

Tinker

Please go to Getaway and let me know if you need transport I'm only a train away.
