We've had our share of unpleasantness in THIS community, but the spirit of the place is undaunted. After a really tough day today -- not to mention feeling the effects of the last week or so, however distantly, I had a blind date tonight with another mudcatter. Abby and his family are delightful. Though the (fabulous old-time) music was loud, and the hour was late and the nerves were frayed, it was just so nice to make one of those wonderful connections that this place has become famous for. A quick dinner, faces to put to the names, and a reminder that there are some things that we will always have in common, despite our differences. One of those things is music, and a love of sharing it. Thanks, Abby and mudcat, for a sanity break. Dani |

We did listen to a great old-time jam while we had dinner, but none of us participated. Abby and Tinker told me a little about the music they love, and I wish we were closer so we COULD -- anyone who has studied and loved music as deeply as they have has prodigious gifts to share. Another time! Last night, it was cool enough just to make a connection with someone that was not motivated by sorrow or fear. Dani |
