What I'm really interested in is where this song comes from. The guy who taught me learned from his mother back in the 30's -- and she didn't know where she learned it or wasn't saying. George, the whole song (as I know it) goes: 1- Those Christmas bells are ringing, it's Christmas time again; With happy voices singing, "Sweet Peace good-will to men!" (chorus:) Oh hear them ring, those merry, merry Christmas bells; Those merry, merry bells, the merry, merry bells; The ringing of the Christmas bells. 2- They the joyous story of Christ the savior's birth; And how the King Of Glory once ruled upon the earth. That's what I know of it. The tune is upbeat, about 120 beats to the minute, at least they way we do it. Maybe that'll help? |
