An alternate way of singing the chorus, to make it gender inclusive, was suggested by a man who led a Yiddish workshop at NW Folklife Festival in 1999 or 2000: Un mir zainen ale brider, Oi, oi, schwester, brider, Un mir zingen freileche lider, Oi, oi, oi!
BTW, for people not familiar with the song, I understand it is an old labor movement song. But it works beautifully as a peace and good will song, too. |

I think that the band was probably the Klezmatics. I have heard Alicia Svigals, the band's fiddler, sing the second verse: "Vi a kale mit a kale". troll

I think the Klezmatics made some alterations/additions to the lyrics when they revived it. |
