03 Oct 01 - 02:07 AM (#564001) Subject: RE: show of hands on television From: Liz the Squeak It's possible that there may be a vid available for a darn sight less than the exhorbitant price that they are charging.... some friends of our video'd it when it was on West Country Carlton about 6 weeks ago.... we didn't know it was going to go mainstream Carlton then.... We could have a SOH Party if you like.... around Christmas....??? With one of the original cast members???? LTS |
03 Oct 01 - 07:38 AM (#564106) Subject: RE: show of hands on television From: manitas_at_work I did fall asleep. Missed the last 15 minutes. I doubt they would have showed the morris dancing on such a short extract anyway. |
03 Oct 01 - 05:37 PM (#564475) Subject: RE: show of hands on television From: Liz the Squeak They did have a bit on, read Morticia's post!!! LTS Sad when you have to communicate anything of note with your husband via a chat site..... But I was right about him falling asleep!!! |
03 Oct 01 - 05:40 PM (#564478) Subject: RE: show of hands on television From: Cappuccino I should like to register an official complaint - it's not right that two guys should keep so much talent between them, when a lot of us could do with just a fractional share of it. They are superb, aren't they? - Ian B |
03 Oct 01 - 06:37 PM (#564514) Subject: RE: show of hands on television From: Herga Kitty I read Kelv's post and promptly set the video to record it. Just for a change, the video recorded the whole programme including the credits at the end confirming that LTS's bratlet's father had been dancing with Albion Morris. Vocally, SoH's guests outshone them - Ralph McTell in particular was streets ahead... |
04 Oct 01 - 03:45 AM (#564771) Subject: RE: show of hands on television From: GUEST,Roger the skiffler I may be the only person underwhelmed by SoH. I have one of their CDs but find their voices very similar and their songs very "samey" despite the instrumental virtuosity. I watched the tv prog and felt the same. The extracts chosen didn't even show most of the instruments on stage being used either. I was expecting more, having heard 'Catters's opinions of them. However, I know when they went to Alderney recently Steve stayed on for a couple of extra days and played gratis with local musicians, so they're clearly OK guys and good musicians but just don't excite me. Shows I'm not a real folkie I suppose! RtS (tried to spot Manitas but the Morris side weren't very clearly filmed) |
