08 Oct 01 - 03:53 PM (#567593) Subject: Micca at the Press Room! From: AllisonA(Animaterra) With luck, our friend Micca will come to the Press Room in Portsmouth, NH, on Friday, October 26. Sinsull, will you be there too? Regulars to the Press Room: what time does the fun begin? |
|
08 Oct 01 - 03:59 PM (#567598) Subject: RE: Micca at the Press Room! From: Jeri It usually starts around 4:15 - 4:30 and ends about 9:45ish. The earlier you come, the better the parking, for both your car and your butt. Gonna be fun! |

08 Oct 01 - 04:08 PM (#567605) Subject: RE: Micca at the Press Room! From: SINSULL I will be delivering Micca to New Hampshire and will visit the press room Friday. Formal dress? |

08 Oct 01 - 04:23 PM (#567614) Subject: RE: Micca at the Press Room! From: Barry Finn Formal dress up here would be either something you'd wear to gut fish or something you'd wear to butcher a cow in. But what ever you wear make sure you'll be warm. Got up this morning to falling snow, this is gonna be one hell of a winter. Barry |

08 Oct 01 - 04:48 PM (#567626) Subject: RE: Micca at the Press Room! From: Jeri Wear clothes. Layers, preferably. It can be freezing outside and very warm in the Press Room because of all the hot air. It's even warmer when Barry comes, and Micca will be there, so be forewarned. |

08 Oct 01 - 04:57 PM (#567633) Subject: RE: Micca at the Press Room! From: Linda Kelly The words 'dress code' and 'Micca' will never be found in the same sentence! |

08 Oct 01 - 05:50 PM (#567691) Subject: RE: Micca at the Press Room! From: Noreen I believe Micca is taking formal dress with him, as one does when travelling in the colonies... :0) I'm not quite sure whether the strapless gown will be suitable for the Press Room though, Micca? |
|
08 Oct 01 - 06:03 PM (#567710) Subject: RE: Micca at the Press Room! From: Bill D the strapless gown would never survive the Getaway,,,better bring something that won't snag on the rustic furniture... |

09 Oct 01 - 08:07 AM (#568082) Subject: RE: Micca at the Press Room! From: Gervase Micca usually carries his own form of central heating in various vessels hidden about his person. Still, old mucker, if you're really worried about the cold, I can lend you several sets of merino long-johns. The advantage of those is that they'll be so long on you, people will be able to knot the sleeves behind your back like a strait-jacket! "Still I sing bonny boys, bonny mad boys...." |

09 Oct 01 - 08:54 AM (#568109) Subject: RE: Micca at the Press Room! From: Fortunato Micca can borrow my armadillo helmet with the ear flaps made out of hind feet. Keeps your head warm and also wards off evil spirits and folkie women with amorous intentions. Hey Gervase you come, too! regards, Chance |

09 Oct 01 - 10:57 AM (#568197) Subject: RE: Micca at the Press Room! From: Bat Goddess 4:30-ish to *8*:45-ish, Jeri, not 9:45!!!! (The upstairs band takes over, usually very loudly, at 9.) The Press Room was named by its founder Jay Smith (in 1976), a journalist, hence the typewriter theme. (Jay used to have a collection of old ones above the bar -- below the obligatory naked lady -- and on the sign. The "new owner" since the mid-90s put a saxophone on the sign instead, sigh.) New Hampshah/Press Room formal is more or less clean jeans (don't offend your neighbors) and T-shirts that don't advertise Budweiser or Coors (like I said, don't offend your neighbors). And you may need a heavier shirt or sweater the way the weather's been going. (Another sigh.) l'll go find one of the previous Press Room threads and repost the directions and caveats here, but getting there early is a good idea both for the parking and seating. We sit around a couple tables pushed together in the back, so there's limited space available at best, and have to stay out of the waitresses' way as well. (And a good idea, too, as they keep us from dying of thirst!) Bat Goddess |

09 Oct 01 - 11:02 AM (#568200) Subject: RE: Micca at the Press Room! From: Bat Goddess Okay, here's my directions from a previous thread: Hey, prolly time to post directions to the Press Room on this thread. Everyone please be advised to get there between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. The session lasts until around 9 p.m. It's in the back of the room in a usually crowded pub and situated in between the kitchen and the waitresses who are trying valiantly to save everyone from dying of thirst. |

12 Oct 01 - 06:29 AM (#570365) Subject: RE: Micca at the Press Room! From: GUEST,micca at work. Gervase, the burning question has to be, What did it taste like???? and to keep the music content high, " Love is a burning thing, and it makes a fiery ring..." |

12 Oct 01 - 06:33 AM (#570368) Subject: RE: Micca at the Press Room! From: Gervase Taste? Several pints of Abbott and a couple of bottles of Montepulciano and you ask me what it tastedlike?? Porbably quite pleasant actually - I'll sometimes have a swig of olive oil when cooking (the greener and more extra virgin the better), and I love chillies in all forms. I don't think I'll be doing the chilli oil thing again, however! |

12 Oct 01 - 08:21 AM (#570411) Subject: RE: Micca at the Press Room! From: Fortunato Micca, I think that is what Johnny Cash and June Carter had in mind. Gervase there is in Lingali, a language of Zaire, the phrase: "Oly, Oly, Peeyow!" Which refers both to the eating of the red hot pepper and the evacualtion of same. Hee, Hee, Chance. |
