Anyone have the lyrics to Ma Rainey's "Prove It On Me"? Thanks in advance.

I only found part of them, I think.

They say I do; ain't nobody caught me,
Sure got to prove it on me;
Went out last night with a crowd of my friends,
They must have been women 'cause I don't like no men.

Wear my clothes just like a fan,
Talk to the gals just like any old man;
'Cause they say I do it, ain't nobody caught me,
Sure got to prove it on me.

I'm pretty sure there are more, but I couldn't find them. Maybe Max knows them.......

Found at FemmeNoir.net:

PROVE IT ON ME BLUES
(Ma Rainey, 1928)

Went out last night, and a great big fight
Everything seemed to go on wrong
I looked up, to my surprise
The gal I was with was gone

Where she went, I don't know
I mean to follow everywhere she goes
Folks say I'm crooked,
I didn't know where she took it
I want the whole world to know

They said I do it, ain't nobody caught me
Sure got to prove it on me
Went out last night with a crowd of my friends
They must've been women, 'cause I don't like no men

It's true I wear collar and a tie
Make the wind blow all the while
'Cause they say I do it, ain't nobody caught me
They sure got to prove it on me

Wear my clothes just like a fan
Talk to the gals just like any old man
'Cause they say I do it, ain't nobody caught me
Sure got to prove it on me.

There's a fabulous recording of it by Faith Nolan on an album called Freedom to Love (Redwood Records). All around that's an excellent album, by the way.

The way Faith sings it, there are a few minor differences:

Verse 1:

"I looked up, to my surprise

The gal I was doin' was gone."

Verse 4:

"It's true I wear a collar and a tie

I like to watch the women pass me by...."

Enjoy!
