Just saying Hi

I finally remembered my password and thought it was high time I introduced myself. I'm a retired instrument maker(allright part time) Singer, and club m/c. I already know, or think I know many u.k. catters and I'm already an addict.(o.k. I know you have to take one day at a time but...) So thanks to all for a great site!

You can try the one day at a time approach, but Mudcat time is compressed or expanded or something-- it will feel like half as long as it really is, when you are online, but then it will feel like twice as long as it actually was, when you look back on it. Like you join and think you are online an hour, but a whole day has slipped away. Then a week later you think a year has gone by since you joined. Very strange.

Never mastered bones..I repair anything stringed smaller than harpsichord, (made a reasonable harp once- sold it anyway!) I play Guitar, bouzouki, whistle and dabble with many others- Hurdy, fiddle, bodhran, etc. Made guitars, fiddles, mandolins. Trained in woodwind and brass repair also, but choose not to.

The whole FAQ is excellent, but here are some links I am experimenting with, that take you to some of the key subjects. I'd love to know if these are helpful. (Be aware that they may expire as working links when a Mudcat upgrade occurs.)

Greeting from just o'er t'border in Lancashire. Pop over to Swinton anytime (Festival is on 26/27 of this month) club is every Monday. Dead easy to get to from W. Yorks but don't forget to bring your passport, change your money to Lancy shillings and bring your Lancs/Yorks dictionary;-)

Cheers

Hi Gillie, I'm usually at Otley but had another gig this time. Our club has run singarounds there.(General Ludd live music club) it's a good 'Do' Dave, I've been to Swinton a couple of times. Both festival and club. Helped on p.a. for Vin Garbutt and Phil Hare last year, then came to see Phil after at the club.Sang too! didn't get chucked out! Must have had the right money.I'll try to get over again soon.
