Help: Martin OOCXMAE guitar

I just saw an add for one of these guitars and it describes the back and sides as "...High pressure Laminates, mahoganey grained..." To me that describes Formica or Pergo flooring. Am I correct?

for just a LITTLE bit more money you can get a Martin DM model & a much better guitar. The only ones I seen as X models were plain Junk! (In my humble opinion)

Yep,your right. Formica. I had a Dx for a short while. It sounded like a cheaper laminate guitar. The only advantage I found was that it stayed in tune even in really hot sweaty places. spend the same money on a Sigma or something.

OK, Maybe I shouldn't skewer the cardboard Martin--but still, Isn't it funny to think about those things being a MARTIN?

Funnier still to think about the raging rock and roll act where the grand finale is the smashing of the guitar on the stage--and nobody cares--or they cheer for the right reason. Or, more likely, no amount of smashing can actually break through the formica veneer.

Imagine fifty years from now someone finds an old guitar case up in the attic of an abandoned house (you know--you've heard the stories of great guitars found in granny's attic). They gingerly open the case only to find a '00 Martin, close the case and leave it there.

Does rosewood formica cost more than mahogany formica?

I bought mine hoping the model would flop and I,d have a collectors item, but they're making too many and after a year it still looked new! (no 'character' at all) Then to cap it all, folks had got wise and I had trouble shifting it.
