Jug Band & Novelty Jam at the Getaway!

I'm scheduled to lead the Jug Band and Novelty Song Workshop/Jam (emphasis on on Jam and Participation)at the FSGW Getaway Next Saturday Afternoon (Oct 20 from 2:30 to 3:30).

Bring your kazoos, guitars, washboards, Ukeleles, and Jugs, and join in the fun! Anything from Ukelele Lady to Stealin, Stealin to Walk Right In to Chasin' Rainbows and Singin' in the Bathtub is appropriate. If it makes you feel good to play it and puts a spring in your step and a smile on your face it fits right in.

I'll be playing the gutbucket, some kazoo, and some banjo ukelele. A guitar or two and a banjo would be really nice. Hell, anything would be nice.

In other words.

HELP !!! I'm panicking... HELP.!!!

Please come and help out!!! I've never led a group of folks like this before (real honest to good muscicians).

See You There!!!

JAB

It is of course the traditional Nosdravian Nose Flute. Remember,Gut, never sit directly adajacent to a nose floutist as they spray laterally

Dr. Cojone at the NYCFTTS has been busy with his new study on sex perverts. When Cletus arrived back home after his last stay there, he had this story all about how Cojone has discovered a "channel" of some sort between the sinuses and the genitals. The most inner sanctum at the Neil Young Center for the Terminally Screwed houses 50 perverts (and of course Neil himself) where Cojone has been carrying out his experiments. The guards here are members of Crazed Tiple Bands who have failed in their mission and are waiting reassignment. Cletus says that Dr. Cojone uses Nose Flutes and not tiples to treat the perverts. It seems that the "channel" he discovered can aid in controlling the sex drive, and specifically deviant activity, if the pervert simply continues to play "I Love a Parade" on Nose Flute, hence all inmates have Nose Flutes permanently affixed. Cojone must have gotten a new batch of sexual deviants to work with since Cletus tells me there was a terrible accident while he was there. It seems as though some form of sinusitis epidemic struck and when their noses plugged up the excess pressure caused by the Nose Flute on the "channel" caused their gonads to explode. The details are too gruesome to go on, but it sent Cletus packin', that's for sure!

Just wanted to warn you all.

Are you sure Dr. Cojones isn't performing experiments for the government? I just heard on CNN that the British Air Force is dropping hundreds of nose flutes over Afghanistan in the hopes of giving Ben Laden's people something to do during the coming winter.

Poor Cletus. He has seen so much.

Rick, down here in the hills of West Virginia, we refer to them as sows, not swinettes.

Looks like everyone has the right spirit! Don't forget the Saws, slide whistles, spoons (to help with the nose whistle flotsam), and other necessary instruments of Kakonophony!

Rick, I'm anxious to see you play your swinette. We've had one in our collection for quite some time and have been unable to
A)tune it properly.
B)Discover how to play it with only two hands
C)Sing with the gas mask on.

Do you have someone hold up the tail for you? Do you play a bass, alto or soprano?

I'm bringing my camera. Chance

Jerzy - there are two threads going now about the Getaway. Look for Getaway and FSGW.

I am sorry I can't be there to play washboard, pot lids, and homemade rhythm shakers made of casette tape cases full of beans and rice. (Not all at once.) Or the box-drum Hardi made me, or the chimes we made out of a windchime...

Dunno WHERE the Therapeutic Claves have gotten to, that would have been fun too... they are very loud and popping-sounding...

I don't think I can fit all the iced tea spoons in my autoharp case, either-- to hammer the autoharp. That Blues Spoon is a humdinger! And the hairbrush to swish it... sorry!

Of course then I'd have had to sing the fire-siren version of Amazing Grace for you... TOO bad....

Have fun!

but hammered autoharp can be really neat...have to hear yours sometime...

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-MAAAYYYYY-Z-z-z-z-z-z-ing-grace-howsweet-the sound........

Voice.

*G*

The town siren started to blow one night when we were warming up so we decided it could just as well be yet another tune for AG, and sang with it. Excellent for breath control practice. Fortunately we were yet not miked up, so the volunteer firefighters did go to the fire station, not to the church. *G* Wouldn't want to hold them up. As they like to say, "We haven't lost a foundation yet."

As far as hammering, I can't say I am hitting melody exactly but it does sound nice, especially the deep bong-y tones.

Aw, I just realized, I would have loved to bark and howl "Lord, yew are more prayshus thayun silvurrrr...." Bill, you could have joined me.

Dogs wanna go to heaven too, don't they? *G* Just kidding.
