From: GUEST,Margaret V at work Well, Roger, I'm almost sorry I got to it before you in that case; would no doubt have been the highlight of the cubicle neighbors' work-day! Yes, Steve, I agree. Etta James sings it with such incredible emotion and tension... I am very moved by it. Margaret |

15 Oct 01 - 06:46 PM (#572859) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I Rather go blind......Blues song. From: Matthew Edwards Thank you Skarpi for remembering this song. Christine McVie (McPhee?) had a hit with it in the late 60's when she sang it wth Chicken Shack. A beautiful song; I didn't know Etta James had also sung it. Now I'll have to go and buy another CD. What label is it on? |
16 Oct 01 - 10:21 AM (#573335) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I Rather go blind......Blues song. From: Cappuccino You're right, Matthew, according to the Guinness book of of hit singles, it was May 69 on the Blue Horizon label that Christine sang it with Chicken Shack. I thought it had been issued in her own name, Christine Perfect, before she married McVie, so I got that wrong. Really, how do you go out in front of an audience with a name like Perfect? You're asking for trouble, aren't you?! But she was, and is, great. - Ian B |
