15 Oct 01 - 09:21 AM (#572396) Subject: Help: name my new band! From: pinkfiddle Hi... I know people are always starting threads like this one but we could do with some help, and with you all being such a creative lot I was hoping someone might have some good suggestions! We're a new duo playing fiddle and guitar and both doing vocals playing a mixture of mainly irish tunes, traditional and contemporary songs and some original material. We've been thinking about using the word 'bridge' somehow, inspired by my new fiddle and the variety of material we aim to play, or something that relates to our instruments/material... currently shortlisted Bridges Crossing Stormbridge I like the last one best, but not totally convinced, hence this post. First gig on the 16th Nov! Thanks everyone Louisa |

From: Aidan Crossey Louisa ... since you're keen on the bridge theme and since there's a tradition of Irish bands being named after Irish tunes ... the following are tunes that I'm aware of whihc have the word bridge in the title ... Athlone Bridge Bandon Bridge The Bridge of Athy The Bridge of Portumna The Bridge on the River Ash Cooleen Bridge Gweebarra Bridge Ha'penny Bridge The Reelin Bridge |

Whistfully? Middle 8 - well it is a bridge. does Clapper Bridge get any applause? If you do dance music "Clopton Bridge" is appropriate. The real Clopton Bridge is close to the Shakespear Memorial Theatre in Stratford. If you are in to Millenium bridges how about "Thisway" (referrence to the new bouncy bridge in London) wasn't the "Giants Causeway" (suggestion) the remains of a bridge in the legend/myth surrounding Fin McCoul? |
