If it's the one I know, it's the title track on Keith Kendrick & Lynne Herauds CD of the same name

Lyrics are here: STARS IN MY CROWN

As far as recordings go, the title varies:

STARS IN MY CROWN - recorded by Blue Murder and Waterson:Carthy.

ANY STARS IN MY CROWN – The Golden Harps

WILL THERE BE ANY STARS IN MY CROWN – The Chuck Wagon Gang, Bill Clifton, The Harmonizing Four, Ferlin Husky, The Maddox Brothers & Rose, The Pernice Brothers, The Seldom Scene, Porter Wagoner, Mac Wiseman

WILL THERE BE STARS IN MY CROWN – Ernie Hawkins, George Jones.

Many sources call it "traditional" but others attribute it to Eliza Edmunds Hewitt and John R. Sweney c1897.

the "traditional" label is probably the (incorrectly used but 'normal') usage to mean 'In the public domain'

In Sankeys hymn book (a very old copy) it is credited to an E.E. Hewitt and Jno.R. Sweeney.
I'll post an abc of the tune over the weekend.

Eliza Carthy and Norma Waterson (with Lal Waterson and Maria Gilhooley) do a stonking (bloody fantastic and very loud) version of this on their recording 'Common Tongue' pub by Topic Records TSCD488. They list it as 'number 787 in the Baptist Sankey hymnal' and it featured in Dennis Potters' last play, 'Cold Lazarus'. (See Eliza - some of us DO read the sleeve notes!)

I've often thought of stealing it but could never do it credit.

Anyone have sheet music for this song? My father's funeral is Friday, 2/11/05 unfortunately, so not much time.

His grandmother in Sweden used to sing the song to him when he was a baby.

Thank you very much.

Linda

From CD 05 "Swedish Hymns":

11. Skall det bli några stjärnor i kronan jag får (E. Hewitt / J.A. Hultman) SGTR 281.

"Solskenssångaren" Johannes August Hultman (1861-1942) kom till USA som barn. Han blev predikant i olika församlingar och turnerade från år 1906 som mycket populär sångevangelist i USA och Sverige. "O min tanke flyr hän till det härliga land" översattes från Eliza Hewitts engelska text "I am thinking today of that beautiful land".

Hi:

Thank you SO very much, especially to Masato Sakurai and CD05 - I only know the hymn in Swedish, but it will be sung at my father's service in English.

I've faxed the words and sheet music (Acrobat version) to the organist. I have my fingers crossed.

I really appreciate your kindness.

Best regards,

Linda
