Braw Lads o' Gala Water Text learnt by Ewan MacColl from his mother, Betsy Miller; text and tune (abc format) from The Scots Musical Museum, with background notes; text of a recording by the McCalmans, Bonnie Lass o' Gala Water, apparantly a modified version of the usual set (no traditional source named). MUS ADD: Gala Water Tune in miditext and abc formats; no source named. Lyrics to Gala Waters Text of Betsy Miller's set.
Presumably you have the record and no lyric is provided; do the sleeve notes say where they got it? That would help us to help you. There's a 1793 Robert Burns version, of course, but the song is older than that, so some more information about the particular one you're looking for would be useful. |
