23 Oct 01 - 02:33 PM (#578224) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: freddie king From: Jim Dixon I was only able to find out this much: It was written by Leon Russell, and it contains the line "I'd rather be blind than to see you go." |

23 Oct 01 - 10:32 PM (#578477) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: freddie king From: Stewie Evidently, it was on the 1972 album 'Texas Cannonball' Shelter LP SW-8913. I have a weird CD reissue of that album with bonus tracks: Freddie King 'The Texas Cannonball' Possum POSCD 6890 [Licensed from Shelter]. Although 'I'd Rather Be Blind' and another, previously unreleased 7-min intrumental from the same sessions, 'Pulpwood', are listed on the back of the CD as tracks 5 and 13, neither are actually on it. I had to renumber the tracks after number 4. I never bothered to send the CD back to the supplier because I assumed they were all like that, and there was ample great music on it anyway. Leon Russell was pianist and co-producer at the sessions (Feb 1972 in Memphis and Los Angeles). --Stewie. |
