23 Oct 01 - 12:18 PM (#578128) Subject: Cliff Adams - RIP From: Fiolar Sadly the death of conductor and arranger Cliff Adams has been announced. Born in 1923 he studied the piano and was a dance-band pianist before joining the RAF in WW2. After the war he worked with such greats as Ted Heath, Cyril Stapleton and Eric Winstone among others. In 1949 he formed The Stargazers which was one of the great vocal groups of the 1950s. In 1954 he formed the Cliff Adams Singers which became famous for the radio show "Sing Something Simple." In addition to the above he also wrote for TV commercials and composed a musical "Liza of Lambeth." |
