Lyr Req: 1962 (Ron Hynes)

Hi, my name is Tom De Vries, I live in Sherwood Park Alberta

I just heard Ron Hynes at a Folk CLub here and I got one of his CD's. It's just him and his guitar, some great songs, but there are no lyrics included. I wondered if anyone could help me with the lyrics to the song 1962, I can't quite make them all out when I listen to the CD....

Thanks for any help you might provide....

I dreamed it was 1962
I dropped a quarter in the Juke box
Played a song for you
Kiss you by the Pinball King
Listening to Dal Shannon sing
I had all his records
He was my favourite then

That's all gone
It won't come back again
That's all gone
It won't come back again

I'd woken up, put on my father's shoes
Stood out in the front yard like he used to do
Walked across the morning sand
Skyline on his shoulders, sign of rain
And mine would be the only footprints that remained

That's all gone
It won't come back again
That's all gone
It won't come back again

There was something I meant to say
hey, hey
But too many words got in the way
yeah, yeah

And I dreamed it was 1962
Lit a fire on the beach
Then played in the sand with you
Singing songs 'til the rain would come
Straight across the fields we'd run
You wrapped a sweater 'round my first guitar
I walked you home

That's all gone
It won't come back again
That's all gone
It won't come back again

Corrected lyrics

1962
(Ron Hynes)

I dreamed it was 1962
I dropped a quarter in a juke box
Played a song for you
Kissed you by the Pinball King
Listenin' to Del Shannon sing
And I had all his records
He was my favourite then

And that's all gone
It won't come back again
That's all gone
It won't come back again

And I woke and I put on my father's shoes
Stood out in the front yard like he used to do
Stepped across the morning sand
The skyline only showed a sign of rain
And mine would be the only footprints that remained

That's all gone
It won't come back again
That's all gone
It won't come back again

There was something I meant to say
yah, yah
But too many words got in the way
yeah, yeah

And I dreamed it was 1962
I lit a fire on the beach
I lay in the sand with you
And sang songs 'til the rain would come
Straight across the fields we'd run
You wrapped a sweater 'round my first guitar
I walked you home

That's all gone
It won't come back again
That's all gone
It won't come back again

There was something I meant to say
yah, yah
But too many words got in the way
yeah, yeah
(key change)
yeah, yeah

I dreamed it was 1962
Dropped a quarter in a juke box
Played a song for you
Kissed you by the Pinball King
Listenin' to Del Shannon sing
And I had all his records
He was my favourite then - him and Brian Wilson

That's all gone
It won't come back again
That's all gone
It won't come back again

Hoo ah hoo
Hoo ah hoo
Hoo hoo (falsetto)

I'd like to see someone write the notes in the lyrics so fellows like myself could learn to play 1962
