Oddly enough, the bluegrass version of "In the Pines" makes no mention of body parts, nor of black girls, although it does mention "the longest train I've ever seen..." Lin

Almost every songster who did folk and minstrel has performed a verson of the song. Bill Monroe made it a "bluegrass" standard, while Leadbelly did the "Blues" version. It was one of the first tunes I learned as a young boy in Appalachia. |
