02 Nov 01 - 01:37 PM (#584825) Subject: RE: Tune Req: Bill Norrie From: Sorcha Hmm. Gary Gillard, (click) says it is Child #83. There is a MIDI file of #83, Gil Morice at Contemplator. I can't tell if the lyrics are close enough for the tune to work, tho. |

02 Nov 01 - 03:10 PM (#584903) Subject: RE: Tune Req: Bill Norrie From: Malcolm Douglas I think it was me who told Garry that. The DT example was transcribed from Martin Carthy's recording; he at least partially re-wrote the text, and I don't think that the tune he used was one traditionally associated with it. On this occasion, he didn't indicate in his sleevenotes what his sources were, so if you want that particular melody, you'll probably have to buy the record. It's well worth it. |

02 Nov 01 - 03:24 PM (#584917) Subject: RE: Tune Req: Bill Norrie From: MMario if anyone has found a tune for it - I don't know about it. it is still on the "missing tunes" list we *do* have tunes available for whole bunches of songs in the current posted version of the DT that don't have midis attached. "Found Tune" file available on request - it gets updated a couple times a week on the average. |

02 Nov 01 - 03:34 PM (#584925) Subject: RE: Tune Req: Bill Norrie From: lamarca As I recall, this is one that Carthy does with his guitar in that weird dulcimer-like tuning he uses sometimes. It's on "Right of Passage" and on "Collection" - here's a sound bite from Green Linnet's site with a hint of the tune... Real Audio file You can get the album from Dick at CAMSCO, or from Green Linnet... |
