From: GUEST,Newby Bob I recently heard the Mike Miles "Magic Banjo "CD and fell in love with the sound of the Wunderlich Minstrel Banjo that he uses on about 7 of the tracks. It has a great, deep sound (not usually associated with banjos) It was perfect for both old time tunes and the blues! My questions to thoses of you music greats on the famous Mcat --- what is a minstrel banjo and where can I find a Wunderlich? Never heard of either, but I sure want to find one for my blues sets! |

Check for related threads in the archives as we have discussed this at length in the past here. For one thing the old banjos were gut strung, fretless, and tuned about 2 1/2 steps lower than modern "Bluegrass" versions. |
