ANYBODY OUT THER GOT THE LYRICS OF "PADDYS NOT AT WORK TODAY" IT S PROPER TITLE MAY BE "THE SICK NOTE".THE SONG IS ABOUT PADDY AND A BARRELL OF BRICKS ON A TALL BUILDING. (I'M SURE ITS ALREADY BEEN LISTED SEVERAL TIMES ON THIS SITE BUT I JUST CANNOT LOCATE IT.

It's in the DT as Why Paddy's Not at Work Today. Also HERE with score and MIDI. There're other titles such as "Dear Boss," "The Sick Note," "The Bricklayer's Song," The Barrel Song," "Ther Excuse Song." The tune is "In the Garden Where the Praties Grow."

There is a recording entitled, "Murphy and the Bricks" performed by Noel Murphy. The lyrics by P.Cooksey/Noel Murphy. The only fault that I found with that recording was the dubbed laughter - painfully obvious!

But the original story line was from the brilliant Gerard Hoffnung from the 1958 recording "Hoffnung at the Oxford Union". It was presented as a narrative and extremely funny.
