Lyr Req: it's hard to know someone's gone for good

I am trying to remember a very sad song that I associate with Hot Rize members, but I don't know if I'm right about that. I know that Joan Wernicke played it on the Boulder public radio station KGNU shortly after Charles Sawtelle died, a show dedicated to him. It's a great tear-jerker, something about grieving someone that you won't ever see again. I only remember a snatch of the words: "but it's hard to know someone's gone for good, they're not coming back, like you wish they would" (These may be near-miss lyric, like "sad to know" instead of hard -- "she's not coming back" or "he's" instead of they.) Do you know the title and/or who did it? And what CD it's on? Thanks. (It is at the top of my own list of songs that make you weep.)
I tried searching for it under "gone for good" and I got back something about making a bologna sandwich.

Hey Deda,

I'm sorry I can't help you with your song search; however, I couldn't help but be struck with your words: 'I tried searching for it under "gone for good" and I got back something about making a bologna sandwich' -- Judging from your fantastic Song Challenge! submission, I was thinking that line (or something like it) would make a wonderful hook in a song . . . See what you can come up with, OK?

Looking forward to your new creation, Áine

Yeah! Maybe something that rhymes "bologna" with "alone-a"... or maybe not... ;^)

Thanks, Guest Ed -- That was it exactly, I knew someone here would help. And Aine, thanks for the vote of confidence and the suggestion. As Amos' younger sister, I feel a little nervous about stepping into a place where he's such a shining star -- and deservedly!

Bologna, of course, rhymes with that good old familiar Irish name, Mologna. Also with the term meaning not genuine, not really honest, but phogna. HAHAHAHAHA ;D

Ah, my darlin' Deda -- don't you know that everyone's a star in the world of the Mudcat!?! And may I add a very special welcome, welcome, welcome to the 'monkey house' to the younger sibling of the Bard of the Fam (ask yer brudder for an explanation -- hahaha) -- but, just remember, you have to bring your own bananas . . . and I'm still waitin' for your new creation, don't ya know ;-) . . .

I thought bologna rhymed with phony as in phony baloney. No?
