I'm looking for the source of this phrase which appeared here a while ago. Want to use it as title for new CD. Art Thieme

Hi Art, Look up the thread in early February called "looking for lyrics of Goodnight Irene".

Art, Can't really help you but to say it has potential as a title and is way better than the"head of the beheader", "music of the bemuser", "suck of the behoover", "leaf of the believer" Help I'm out of control and can't stop.

cheers

That's what you get for trying to unscrew the inscrutable.

Art- I've always thought that A rare Bird ...and a rattlin' bird would make a neat album title for those of us that are chronologically challenged.

Whippoorwil

One of my favourite cryptic crossword clues was:

"She, too great for words, can never have children"

And the answer was:

ineffable (pronounced in this case with the accent on *F*)

Does that match your "inscrutable" comment?

I used that quote in a recent thread. I believe it was on an album cover (possible the title) by either Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Charles Mingus, or Thelonious Monk. It was a long time ago. Check with aging jazz fans.

Good luck, Chet W.

Thanks Chet W. Sure did like the phrase but now don't want to use it. I'll have to turn off the computer and do something I've not done in a while--THINK. That'll be good for me. I'll clean my monitor screen too; got WHITE OUT all over it. Art Thieme

You've been doing raunchy crosswords. Synonyms might be impregnable or insurmountable.

Hey Art, don't give up. I'll try to find it for you. Give me a few days. I do love jazz myself, even after it stopped being "traditional" music. But, as Thelonious Monk once said (I'm sure it was him on this one), "Writing about music is like dancing about architecture."

Well, Art, seems like the title has already been used for two albums. In the previous reference by Chet, he said it was the title of an album by Rahsaan Roland Kirk. I did a search of the Web, and found a jazz album by Dewey Redman with the same title.
Better stick with us, Art. We'll keep you out of trouble.

It's been a long time guys; I won't get anybody in trouble. Dewey Redman sounds fine. It is a fine phrase though isn't it?
