08 Nov 01 - 05:39 PM (#588542) Subject: Skipper Jack (Dave Robinson) in Hospital From: Madam Gashee Mudcatter, Skipper Jack,(Dave Robinson) from Baggyrinkle Swansea Shantymen, is in hospital. He has had tummy problems for about a year now and was admitted to Swansea's Singleton Hospital on Thursday. He had an operation today to remove cancer from his bowel. He came through OK & was resting up tonight. I'm sure we all wish him a speedy recovery. |

There are quite strong links between the Baggies and Men of Sweyn's Ey (the local geriatric morris side), I'll pass Pavane's wishes (and all the rest) on to Dave this weekend. Sorry Spaw - he couldn't do 25 sit-ups when he was fit! Andrew |

14 Nov 01 - 05:04 AM (#592280) Subject: RE: Skipper Jack (Dave Robinson) in Hospital From: Michael in Swansea Yesterday evening Karen, true to her word, came along with Billy and myself to eat Daves' grapes. We didn't know that his sister and brother-in-law and his old buddy Brian had the same idea. He certainly perked up when he saw Karen, and she was great, fussing 'round like Mother Hen. :>) He was a lot chirpier than I thought he'd be, naturally a bit p****d off from lying in bed all day but that may not for much longer, he said that "they" were going to try to get him out of bed today, Wednesday. So, who knows? I'll have to visit him again, he's got some Turkish Delight that requires attention. Mike |

06 Dec 01 - 01:56 PM (#605067) Subject: RE: Skipper Jack (Dave Robinson) in Hospital From: Skipper Jack My sincere thanks to you magnificent mudcatters for all your good wishes and words of comfort during my hospitalisation. As you probably know from Madam Gashee, that the operation went well and it appears that no further treatment is needed in the short term but monitoring will be essential for at least five years. I am feeling better each day and eating well. By Christmas I shall be back with "The Baggies" and we'll be on the road again in 2002. Thanks Mr Red for your suggestion of a Bowelsprit Shanty. I shall put it at the BOTTOM of my song list!! By the way The Baggies suitably costumed are singing carols in Swansea's Christmas market this week. I hope that they are not "hampering" the shoppers!! They came to the hospital to sing carols last Sunday and they discharged me on Tuesday. I wonder if there was a connection there? Only joking guys!! The Season's Greetings to all Mudcatters. Thanks again for kind thoughts. Dave.
