09 Nov 01 - 09:18 PM (#589447) Subject: I'm Going To Leave Old Dixie From: Jeep man I sure would like to have the lyrics to this song from Norman Blake. I know, I should listen to it and write them down, but can't at this time. Thanks, Jeepster |

I tried things like "with a hunger they did cry" which is reasonably nique and got no hits. Sorry.......but, uh, ....ahem.........it'd be pretty nice if you HAVE the album to get this one written down here for us..........ya' know? Spaw |

10 Nov 01 - 07:33 PM (#589945) Subject: ADD: I'm Going To Leave Old Dixie From: Stewie The Blakes' version is more or less identical with the one linked by Sorcha. I transcribed it before seeing her link, so I'll post it for easier access. The Blakes attributed it to 'traditional', but the American Memory gives the actual credits:
I'M GOING TO LEAVE OLD DIXIE --Stewie.

10 Nov 01 - 08:24 PM (#589997) Subject: RE: I'm Going To Leave Old Dixie From: Sorcha I asked Google for "leave old dixie" and this was the first hit on the page. What I didn't know was whether Blakes I'm Going to Leave was the same as 'Gwine to Leave....turns out, it is. I found a short WinMedia clip of Norman singing it, and what I could understand seemed like the same song. Bob's your uncle! |
