I know this is not a traditional song, although it's 82 or 83 years old, but maybe someone knows a website that has all Irving Berlin's lyrics or that might have this one, anyway. All I know of the song now is: Oh, how I hate to get up in the morning! Someday I'm going to murder the bugler! (Another chorus goes: and the last last couplet is: I'd really like to be able to do the whole song in my Veterans' Day programs. Can someone help me out? Arjay P.S. I don't know the tune to the verse either, so I could use a MIDI or at least the chords. I do, of course, know the tune for the part I posted. |

This song was part of a musical titled Yip-Yip-Yaphank, written by Sergeant Irving Berlin. It opened 19 August 1918, and had 32 performances. Irving Berlin also used the song in Ziegfield Follies of 1918, and in This Is the Army (1942). "Oh! How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning" was also used in the 1943 movie titled This Is the Army, starring Ronald Reagan - but Irving Berlin himself sang this song in the film. -Joe- |
