Lyr Req: Pauline (Tex Williams)

Can anyone help me locate the lyrics to an old song (probably from the 1960's). I think the title was "Pauline". It wasn't much of a hit by whomever recorded it - but not being a hit hasn't stopped me before....

There are some lines in it which go:

"I left Salt Lake City one summery dawn and rode into Reno the very next morn"...

Here's some more,probably from a different verse:

"...my heart skipped a beat, once or twice, maybe more; I can't recall when that happened before".

chorus: "Pauline, Pauline, Prettiest girl that I ever have seen..."

This song is driving me nuts. Thanks Tom

Abilene, Abilene, prettiest town that I ever seen?

No, it is not Abilene - different lyrics, different tune.

The tune IS very similar to Sweet Betsy from Pike; but the lyrics are entirely different.

Thanks Tom

PAULINE

I left Salt Lake City one summery dawn
and rode into Reno the very next morn.
The first thing I noticed, and oh the surprise,
was a raven haired miss with big emerald eyes.

Pauline, Pauline, purdiest gall I ever have seen.
Pauline, Pauline, someday I'll marry Pauline.

I smiled as she passed, and she whispered hello,
then all of a sudden I started to glow.
My heart skipped a beat once or twice, maybe more,
and I couldn't recall when that happened before.

I planned to be leavin' the very next day.
When dawn came I kissed her and went on my way.
When I got to Gallup her kisses still burned,
so I turned right around and I quickly returned to

Pauline, Pauline, purdiest gall I ever have seen.
Pauline, Pauline, someday I'll marry Pauline.

I gave her my cattle and my yellow dog,
my tall Shanghai rooster and my spotted hog.
I gave her my pony, my new silver spurs.
I gave her my heart, and she gave me hers.

Pauline, Pauline, purdiest gall I ever have seen.
Pauline, Pauline, someday I'll marry Pauline.

Correction to refrain:
Pauline, Pauline, purdiest gal that I ever have seen.

I used to hear the song "Paukine" in early 1956 while I was working in Califorina. That is the only place and time I heard it. Some of the lines have stuck with me but not the title, so I finally found it here.
