Where can I buy a lute (England)?

Where can I buy a decent lute in England? I do some Mediaeval material so I'd like to use something approaching the right instrument, but I'm having trouble tracking one down. Here's who I've tried: Northern Renaissance in Manchester who can't offer lutes as their maker is ill; Early Music Shop, Bradford, who have about a dozen lutes, all unplayable due to poor maintenance (so I made a 300 mile round trip for nothing!!!) and this w/e I'm going to Hobgoblin in London, who have only two. Where can I try? Please help.

Sorry, but the three places you mention, are the three I was about to recommend!

I'll have a think (search) and get back...

Any traditional instrument, from anywhere, you could want.

Yes, but Lark is in Mendocino, California, US. Shipping would probably be outrageous.

You could try contacting the Dept. of Music Technology at London Guildhall University,( PM me if you need a name and number) they taught lute making there when I worked there, and might be able to put you in touch with a student or an ex student maker who might be able to supply you with one at a reasonable price.
