From: GUEST,Ian Sturrock Hi folks, I'm doing some research into the Cornish legend of Tom Bawcock, as immortalized in the great children's story _The Mousehole Cat_. Specifically, I want to know if the cat is a modern invention, or whether she's also named in the lyrics for the song _Tom Bawcock's Eve_, which I can't find anywhere on the web. Can anyone help? |

From: Desert Dancer According to the legend on that site, and the song, Tom Bawcock returned from the sea triumphant with "seven sorts of fish" -- interesting. We've shared Christmas Eve or Christmas dinner with another family for about 10 years now, eating at either house, but following their ethnic family traditions for the meal: Italian on Christmas Eve and Slovak on Christmas (or vice versa -- I can't remember!). The Italian tradition requires seven different kinds of seafood to be eaten... ~ Becky in Tucson (1/4 Cornish, via Australia to the U.S.) |

I will type it up in a day or 2. I'm involved with a bunch of school kids this week doing Joseph (Tech Coloured Dreamcoat). Having a really good time just wish I had half the energy. KJ |
