27 Nov 01 - 02:12 PM (#598610) Subject: POLITICS nonMusic Hezbollah From: Mrrzy There is motion afoot to have the Hezbollah declared Not A Terrorist Organization, apparently they are about to be forgiven for slaughtering hundreds of Americans in the early 80's in the hopes of getting their government to help in the search for Bin Laden. For those of you who don't remember what they did, they were the first people to carbomb an American embassy anywhere, when they destroyed the US Embassy in Beirut in April, 1983, killing close to 100 people. They bombed the Marine barracks in October of the same year, killing over 300. They then bombed the new Embassy the following Spring, in 1984, I can't recall how many died. Please please make loud noises, it is Sen. Leahy to whom objections should be sent, or Sen. Kennedy. In case you don't think this affects the Mudcat, my dad, as many of you know, was one of the Americans killed in the first Embassy bombing. Just because Bin Laden is worse doesn't make prior terrorists OK. Whew. Vent off. |

Each day I go to my school, near the Lebanese border, I wonder whether my school bag would stop a bullet or grenade fragment- and whether I would have the courage to rush a kalatchnikov shooter, hurling English books at him. Have you seen some of their slogans and banners? They really need English teachers- perhaps they might spare me. Jack The Lad |
