Help: Anyone Up For 'Songcatcher' on Paltalk?

The Mudcat has been up all of ten hours and NO SONGCATCHER THREAD! SO - how about it? We all meet on Paltalk. Those who want to can sing and play anything from Songcatcher. Those who prefer can play the sound track and karaoke along. And...those who have the movie can play their favorite scenes while we all listen in.And we have the added benefit of text chat to elucidate anything that hasn't already been elucidated.

Spaw - I told you to leave the Captain alone!

Mary,

Sounds utterly repulsive.

I'll give it a miss

Doesn't Emmylou sing "Barbara Allen" on the soundtrack? That should induce Spaw to give it a try!

But I have another "Songcatcher".....new novel by Sharyn McCrumb.........nothing to do with the movie........it's about a really obscure (non existant) ballad which is being sought by a Hot Nashville singer from the Appalachians..........good book. Better than the film of the same title (which it has NOTHING to do with).

If I ever offer to sing, don't let me, OK? Your computers would never be the same again.

That was a joke on Sinsull's part, Morticia. (Right, Sins?) Kind of like my wondering if the hot Nashville singer plays a Seagull guitar...or tunes his mustache. But that's not a criticism of you--to your credit, not knowing the joke, you jumped right in to help in the best Mudcat tradition!

Aloha,
Mark

Well, I made it almost 6 hours without opening this thread............Shoulda' gone for 7 or more..................Songcatcher, Dainty Davy, Seagulls.................Okay, just for that:

Friends, let me inform you that Gordon Bok's long-awaited new songbook, One To Sing, One To Haul, just came through the door. And now you can have Gordon's own special rotating fan with the unique Bok touches. First it has the signature Gordon Bok Cookie Duster HEPA Filter lining all four sides of the inlet keeping dust to a minimum. Each fan is also equipped with an auto-sensing switch so it always Turns On Toward Morning!!! An yet another feature!!!! The DownEast Crapper Whapper!!! Yes folks, if you're in a position where you can expect the shit to hit the fan on a regular basis, then THIS is the Fan for you! I understand this feature has been tested extensively and is guaranteed to keep the crap off of you! The testing was done by having Kendall Morse tell stories into the fan because everyone knows that Kendall is full of shit. After wearing his voice out over the three day testing period, listeners said they never heard a word he said!

To order online, go to Books and click on the Special Package, One To Sing, One To Haul, One To Blow. Order for gifts for your friends too because don't forget that with every hundred dollar order you get a free Amish-Australian Pitchfork Moustache Tuner!

I REALLY don't want to give people the impression that i have nothing to do except read Mudcat threads, but I think I have run into Spaw's ad for the new Gordon Bok CD at least four times today. Talk about negative advertising! Saw the movie (video) for the first time the other day and loved it. Thought that the lesbian love affair and the "stealing our songs" theme were overdone, but who would watch a flick about a college professor trecking the Appalachian hill country for Child Ballads without some sex and/or violence (except us, of course).

Art, don't worry......You obviously have better things to do because I have stuck that crap on at least 10 threads! See, we don't think any less of you now!

Morty,
Thank you! I am debating about refreshing Dainty Davey again. Spaw needs a poke now and again.

Art - How about giving us a review of the movie? Might even require its own thread.

There have been at least 4 threads on the movie, and there are some VERY STRONG opinions out there. It is well worth $3 at the local video rental, in my not particularly humble opinion.

Art BROOKS (not to be confused with the other Art)

Surething Art!!! Go for it! Indeed, a new thread is just the ticket! If you have any questions or opinions about Seagull guitars, why hellfire, start a thread on them too! And Art? Do you know what a curly pow is? I was just wondering..............

Pass the Tylenol 4 please..............
