Hi, I used to have a .tef file of the piece reynardine by Bert Jansch, but i had to format my hard drive and i lost it. I am desperately looking for one. Any help would be much appreciated

Hi Tony--

I don't know what a .tef file is, but if you can use a midi file instead, go to the top of this page, to the "DigiTrad Lyrics Search" blue box on the right, and do a search for Reynardine. At the bottom of the lyrics is a "Click For Tune" that you can also right-click and save to your hard drive.

Hope this helps.

Lin

That's a Reynardine tune, but not the one Tony means.  I referred to it recently in the  Reynardine: Info?  thread, and put in links to two other midis, the second of which is very close to the set A. L. Lloyd recorded; Jansch learned it from him.  The tune from Hughes may indeed have been Lloyd's source.

I assume the lost file was an audio recording, though; that's the best I can do for now.  I think the Jansch recording is available on CD nowadays, incidentally.

Bugger, got the link wrong and no time to put in another.  You can search for the thread on the main Forum page, though.

Just got back from what ought to have been an unnecessary trip to blasted Stockport, and I remember, now; TEF is a TablEdit tablature file, isn't it?  You will find what you're looking for at the  Fingerstyle Guitar  site, in the Bert Jansch section.

The link to the Reynardine discussion that I got wrong earlier should have been  Reynardine,  incidentally.  Turns out I put up three midis, not two, the first (a few messages earlier) being a rough transcription of Lloyd's singing.  He actually got the song from a chap in Suffolk, but the tune is very close to earlier Irish variants.

Well, more specifically Stockport station, which wears a bit thin after a while...
