Personally, I feel Lang is one of the great fingerstylists, and it's a shame that he's been seemingly forgotten. My question is one of curiosity. I am enthralled by the tune "The Thoth Song" from Kottke-Fahey-Lang, and was wondering if anybody knows what tuning Lang uses on it. Also, I have only that album and "The Thing At The Nursery Room Window" and can't find anything about him on the web. Any other Peter Lang fans out there? Rick Clogston |

I remember his expressed concern that his guitars were not in perfect "concert-pitch." Like it mattered. Well rested, alert and in great form. That much I remember. I always dug that Egyptian thing too, my friend |

You forgot to mention Robbie Basho, btw. Murray |
28 Nov 01 - 08:58 PM (#599840) Subject: RE: Tune Req: Peter Lang From: Oversoul Robbie Basho was my favorite of the clan. I remember Fahey saying that he never really "hung out" with Basho, and that nobody did, according to Fahey "you couldn't, nobody did"...I find that a great inspiration. I thought this was about Lang, I will have lots to say about Basho if any cares.... |

Still have both on vinyl. As for Robbie Basho, I picked up "Venus and Cancer" after hearing it on a radio station while I was in the Navy(1969). Still have it. Also have "The Art of the Acoustic Steel String Guitar 6&12). Another of those great guitarists who have passed on to pursue their music on a higher plane. rr |

(I see that a lot of his videos are more political than musical. Trust me: Peter Lang is a liberal/progressive. I'm sure he posts videos of Glenn Beck in order to show how ridiculous Glenn Beck is, although I question Peter's apparent assumption that Beck's ridiculousness and Peter's disapproval will be self-evident to everyone who watches. There must be somebody out there who likes Glenn Beck.) See also the page about his tunings at Stropes.com. |

Sad to hear of his medical problems. He stopped by our local university radio station a while back and played/talked for an hour or so. |
