30 Nov 01 - 04:22 AM (#600764) Subject: RE: Slattery's Mounted Fut From: Matthew Edwards Thanks Snuffy, and 'Spaw - I'm always amazed by what treasures turn up in a DT and Forum search - I should have looked there first. We used to have an LP at home of Percy French songs - I'll have to dig it out next time I visit the Aged P's, as there were other good songs which haven't been mentioned. I remember reading on the sleevenotes that he wrote "Ballyjamesduff" (Come Back Paddy Reilly) in one day in a contest with another writer when challenged to produce a song about a place with a really improbable name like Ballyjamesduff ! |
