BS: Junk English-(book review & commentary)

there have been a number of threads about English usage and various opinions on the decline thereof...so, I was interested to see this review in today's Washington Post.

Though brief, it support a number of MY personal prejudices, and manages to convey them more clearly & succinctly than I usually can. I guess I may have to actually invest in the book! One always needs more clever examples to support one's own skewed attitudes, hmmm?

My husband passed along a memo from someone in his office, announcing that a co-worker's deceased mother was going to be "funeralized on Tuesday"...

Looks like another good book for us Pedantic Word and Grammar Police (the PWGP ward at the NYCFTS?)

All living languages change. Those of us who try to place apostrophes correctly, know and maintain the difference between "your" and "you're", etc, are fighting a losing battle. But it can be quite fun fighting, is that not so?
