05 Dec 01 - 09:50 AM (#604194) Subject: Chantey Claus From: Wincing Devil I'm not sure if it's a song, I've only heard it read. It's based on Clement Moore's "The Night before Christmas" and it's called "A Visit from Chantey Claus" It's funny as hell, about a visit from the pirate known as "White Beard" , stealing stuff instead of leaving stuff etc.

05 Dec 01 - 04:57 PM (#604473) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Chantey Claus From: Wincing Devil Aye, Lassie, That's where I heard it too. I heard it last year by Mr. Skivee hisself, but hisself is wending his way up from Floriday, and couldn't deliver it in person. Mike told me it looked like a much forwarded email (Lotsa lines starting with "> > >") I've looked with Google, AltaVista and Yahoo (which just re-hashed Google) and can't find it.

It is called "A visit from Whitebeard" and you can find the words at www.angelfire.com/biz/argonnehotel/cbook386.html and the guys name is Cap'n Clark Cable. I used Excite as a search engine and looked for "the rusty old cutlass" (of course, I also got a web site with story about someone's beat up car) |

A VISIT FROM WHITEBEARD
'Twas the night afore Christmas, and down below decks
The mate with his cutlass, and me with me gun
The moon to the west was the probable source
More rapid than seagulls they flew toward me quarters—
As ships that are pitchin' and driven by blizzard
As I pulled in me head and went back in the gloom
His eye, how it festered! His features, how salty!
He had a long, jagged scar, and a stomach gigantic
He spoke not a word, but went straight to the hold
But I heard him proclaim, like a ghost from afar, |
