06 Dec 01 - 04:41 AM (#604792) Subject: Help - can't find 'dots' for black & tan From: paddymac I have plowed through too many google hits on "Come Out Ye Black and Tans" to count, and have found a number of variants to the lyrics nad a few chord patterns (mostly C or Am), but what I really want is the sheet music - and on that score (sorry, bad pun), I have been frustrated. I freely admit to not being the best cyber-sleuth on the planet, and would greatly appreciate any help in finding a gif or jpg, etc, of the music for the song. |

06 Dec 01 - 07:59 AM (#604831) Subject: RE: Help - can't find 'dots' for black & tan From: JohnInKansas paddymac There've been a number of threads talking about the B&Ts, and a lot of people seem to know the tune - but nobody's put it up. I've checked a couple of places offsite with no luck. The only thing that might be helpful is the thread RE: Questions re: Come Out Black & Tans? where "Guest, Neil Comer" made the claim that the tune is the same as The Bright Orange Heroes of Comber. I didn't see anyone agree with him, but also nobody argued with it. Maybe a search on that "alternate" title would get fewer trash hits. I'm assuming you would recognize the tune if it is the same? 06 Dec 01 - 10:59 AM (#604918) Subject: RE: Help - can't find 'dots' for black & tan From: JohnInKansas A quick search on the MSN engine got only one hit for Bright Orange Heroes of Comber, with a fragment of lyric in a very long article - but no music. There are footnotes in this scholarly essay to some texts that might have something, but they are not works that I would be likely to find in my neighborhood. Ya' wouldn't settle for Black and Tan Fantasy by Duke Ellington & Bub Miley, wouldya? That one I could come up with. John |

08 Dec 01 - 07:52 AM (#606271) Subject: RE: Help - can't find 'dots' for black & tan From: paddymac Many thanks to all, and especially to MMario who was able to come up with a jpg. I encountered chord patterns in both "C" and "Am," but suspect the later is probably correct. It's "on the schedule" of material to work on for our rehearsal next week and will be in the playlist for our next gig. This one, and "Broad Black Brimmer", are the two songs we haven't done and for which we get the most requests. |
