Yeah - Matt McGinn and a whole bunch of others sang on that one - probably Watt Nicol was in there too..

Cheers

Just BTW--and apology for going off thread a wee---is Wat Nicol still around? Did I get the impression somewhere that he'd gone into politics? I'll never forget his intro to the "Wee Burd" song---" accompanied by Ali Bain and his pluckin' fiddle"----

I last saw Watt Nicol when Danny Kyle draged me to a pub in Paisley where a stage hypnotist called "The Man" was performing. The man was of course none other than Watt.

BTW No1 Hamish recorded Scottish Breakaway at least twice. First on a single on Transadlantic b/w "I'm the boy to freeze them". This recording later surfaced on a sampler, and I think it's this one Nick is asking about. He also recorded an album for the strange Autogram label which also featured a new recording ofthis song.

BTW No2 What happened to the Autogram label. I haven't seen any of their stuff rereleased on CD. They wrer a Greman label that released lots of unique albums of Scottish artists among others. As well as Hamish, Iain Macintosh, Eric Bogle, Clive Palmer, Cilla & Artie all recorded for them.

BTW No3 Live at the Star, the Glasgow folk club is puting on, (in conjuncton with the Imlach family), a Hamish Imlach memorial concert. Date will be 14th Feb 2002. I will post more details when I get them.

love, john

Yes John, The Transatlantic EP verison is the one I am asking about. Please do us keep us updated on the the Hamish tribute. I have Hamish pages on my website www.theballadeers.com and you can email me at oxbownick1@theballadeers.com.

I'm sure Susanne knows more about the Autogram label.

Nick

Dug out my copy after all, 'cause I've got the Autogram album, 'Scottish Sabbath'. It's a studio recording (well, some people say the owner's front room doubled as the studio ...) made on 28 April 1976, and Hamish is accompanied by Iain MacKintosh on the concertina.
As far as I know the Autogram label is still going, at the old address (Willy Schwenken, Burgstr. 9, Nottuln - the album is so old it doesn't have the new German postcode!), and their LPs should still be available. I have much of the material John mentions above. Don't know about any reissues on CD, or indeed new material on CD, but would offer to find out if anybody wants to know. EMail me at skw at worldmusic.de.
Great to hear about the Hamish memorial concert. Wish I was there! Hopefully, The Living Tradition will cover it.
