Lyr Req: 'feeding paregoric...'

I am trying to find lyrics to an old, old song that contains the line, "instead of feeding paregoric to some kid who's got the colic, I might have been a dancer in a ballet."

Is this recognizable to anyone??

Thanks in advance,

Lyle

Don't really know, Fortunato; don't remember seeing Ray without his cowboy hat! BG!

It is conceivable that the following is another fragment (sung, like everything else, to the tune of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic"):

When the baby gets a colic in the middle of the night,
And you hunt the paregoric and you can't find the light...

Thanks, Joe F, but no, not one of those. I believe it was from somewhere in the late 1800's, but I'm not sure. I've looked at all tho old sheet music places I can find, but nothing yet. The tune is of a style that would be similar to that era.
